Forest Hills United Methodist Church Timeline
1955
Forest Hills United Methodist Church is established
(official charter date: January 1, 1955). The congregation is organized to serve the growing Forest Hills and North Tampa communities.
1957
First sanctuary is built (current Fellowship Hall).
1959
Adjoining properties were purchased by the church for parking, youth house.
1960s
Forest Hills neighborhood experiences rapid growth as Tampa expands northward. Church ministries and Sunday School grow with the community.
1962
Education wing is built for $33,450 (current office building).
1968
Merger of the Methodist Church and Evangelical United Brethren Church.
1968
First service in new and current sanctuary was held February 1968.
1968
Pipe Organ installed and dedicated four months after the sanctuary is built.
1970's
Life Enrichment Center is established as a ministry to older adults.
July 2022 – Present
Rev. Bobby Hinton becomes senior pastor, leading renewed outreach, community engagement, children's ministries, online worship, and church growth.
